The Lola Basque

REDLIP_7When it comes to lingerie, there are four things that I’ve been completely obsessed with lately: corsets, waist cinchers, basques and long line bras. If you asked me what a basque was a year ago, I wouldn’t have been able to answer. Through all of my online lingerie admiring, I’ve found that the definition of basque is actually quite flexible, but it’s always corset-like. This one in particular has boning throughout and pushes up (but not up and in, key for this look) in all the right places and is less constricting than a corset or waist cincher.

What I love about it most is the sheer and mesh paneling. They’re placed very strategically and flatter even the most small busted of us. I also love the hiplet structured panels that flare out on the sides. My hips aren’t usually a part of my body I like to accentuate, but this piece somehow makes me feel like a super nova. It’s absolutely one of the most fun and luxurious pieces I own, I can’t wait to style it with a flared … leather? … skirt for spring.

  1. Love this post. I’m obsessed w/ all the same things. I love lingerie inspired fashion but it can be hard to wear – You really have to do it right!

It’s totally experimental, you’re right! Fashion as outerwear has so many possibilities outside of the see-through blouse with bra (though, admittedly, that’s a favorite of mine) and I think basques can really be worn like bra tops or corset tops. Appreciate the very kind words, thank you!

  2. The photos are gorgeous! You look lovely + basques are fantastic :)

Thank you, Caro! All thanks to the lovely Lydia Hudgens :)

Yes, I’m even obsessed with the word “basque” — is that weird? I may end up framing this one and hanging it when it’s not in use… it’s that beautiful.
