A Lazy Sunday (and Mac’s Cameo!)

I just finished another book that’s going on my favorites shelf: Shopgirl by Steve Martin. It wasn’t until I sat down to write this post that I realized one of my last “boudoir” posts also included a book, Object of Beauty - another by Mr. Martin. The latter was a random (and decidedly awesome) Barnes & Noble impulse purchase and Shopgirl was recommended to me by my roommate. She’s a book editor and said she loved it, so after loving Object of Beauty and hearing her endorsement, I had to read it. I discovered that one of the best things about Shopgirl is its cult following. Whenever a fellow fan saw me reading or holding it, they’d interrupt and ask what I thought of the book so far and if I’d seen the movie yet. I’d recommend it for anyone who’s interested in how a person can have that je ne sais quoi in the eyes of another without knowing it, the emotional push and pull of true love and the funny way the world works.

Speaking of love… these little shorties by Eberjey are called the “prisoner of love” shorties. Nothing gets me more than clever names for things (my favorites are OPI’s and Essie’s nail polish names). They’re light, soft and quirky, perfect for a Sunday spent freelancing. To feel a little more put-together, I added some jewelry by Freddie&Cinnamon, an eccentric and elegant line based out of the UK. The name “Freddie&Cinnamon” comes from the names of the founders’ cats – how cute is that? I especially love the rope bracelet – it adds a bit of edge to an otherwise soft look.

What are your lounging favorites lately? Also… I need a new book. Recommendations?

Ahhh. I love Shopgirl. I won’t even begin to ramble on but you’ve reminded me that I should revisit it soon.

  2. I have some eberjey lace shorts too – super comfortable and great for weekend lounging!
