Spring is the first thing that comes to mind when looking at this little dress. It’s like an Easter egg in that it is entirely fabricated of pastels and, like an Easter egg, it’s a surprise filled with something sweet and irresistible. It flew off the racks at Journelle in my size, likely because I had deliberated the purchase for too long, so I had to scout it elsewhere – Shopbop! And it was on sale
making it one of my shopping stories of which I am most proud. It was also a pity purchase… I was going through a rough time in my life and needed a little pick me up.
I went out of my comfort zone with this as I never usually wear pastels, though I’m more willing to try them in lingerie than in my outerwear. I am usually of the belief that pastels will wash someone as pale as myself out, but somehow they almost always end up complementing even the most ivory of tones (and believe me, I’m as light as they come).
The silk of this chemise just glides across the skin, almost as if you’re wearing nothing. It falls at the perfect point on the thigh, too, just skimming the space between too short and not short enough. The front is deceptively sweet, especially in blush with mint trim and braided straps, but the back is something else! Criss-crosses of french seamed goodness wrap around the mid and lower back, giving a feeling of security and love without having to rely on anyone but yourself. Now that’s empowering.

The color is pretty! I love the straps!
The detail is amazing. So subtle, but special.
