Whenever Journelle sends out their playful email blasts, I’m often quick to hit the reply button, asking the sales girls which New York location has the coveted items and whether my size is in stock.
In my defense, they do a really great job marketing and I’m obsessed with lingerie, which made my inquiry last Thursday all but inevitable. I knew from the moment I opened the email on my iPhone (on my iPhone because I’m always afraid someone will catch me at work, which makes for a potentially awkward situation) that there was no escaping this one. It was an email full of Mimi Holliday… the first brand of lingerie I’ve ever owned. The set still fits me well, despite the fact that I have somehow managed to tone up and simultaneously gain just a smidgen in some areas where more curvature is welcome. I had to at least try the new ones on. Obviously.
The funny thing is, I thought that I definitely wouldn’t like the blue Nonnettes set, and that I would want the airy, cupcake pink Macaroon chemise, or the lovely-but-badass black eyelash lace Bisou Bisou set. Regardless, I asked that all of them be held aside for the weekend so I could play dress up for a little while. Woo hoo!
Naturally, I left with the blues. Pun intended! I did actually leave the store without buying anything at first because I was making a valiant effort to be less of a shopaholic, but I didn’t walk half way to Union Square when I found my feet turning me around… oh well. I tried. I tried.
I never thought blue would be my color, but as it turns out it looks great on milky white skin and with red hair. Also – a word to my ladies with smallish chests – balconnet cuts are magic! Somehow, with very little fabric, they make the girls look, uhh, kinda up, round, out there and generally amazing. After years of relying on my padded frenemy Victoria to push them up and out, I think I finally have a new go-to gal, Mimi. Thank goodness.
Now to make sure Mac doesn’t steal them!

It’s funny but I liked that set the best too! So pretty!
Thanks Chelle!
I have a special gasp-scream reserved for when my kitten attacks the silks and lace
