Watercolor Silk

watercolor silkThis outfit has been a figment of my imagination for so long, I was excited to see it finally come to life. It’s a juxtaposition of sweet and edgy: two styles I tend to fluctuate between. These days I’m definitely swinging toward sweet (last time, it was edgier). Since the top is made of deliciously sheer silk, I layered it over a form fitting lacy tunic, which was also layered over my favorite brassiere. Sunglasses pull everything together – I can’t seem to live without a pair of huge ones lately, and these happen to be my favorites.

I would love to know: when it comes to your own personal style, do you find that you’re committed to a certain style or look (for example, you see something you love but don’t wear it because it’s not “your style”) or do you just wear what you like?

    Great top!!

  2. I recently discovered Beautiful Bottoms on my trip to London and I am very pleased to have found them. Love that you are wearing their cami as outerwear here!

Hmm the style question is an interesting one for me. I think that through my blog it is has an experiment in finding as well as developing my style. I think I have a ‘core’ style that I am familiar and comfortable with (a lot of black, some leather, minimal accessories and a sleek silhouette) but it is also nice to try and step out my comfort zone now and again. I have surprised myself with what actually works for me when I try it on!

Thanks Sarah! I feel the same way – keeping a blog is almost like a journal in that sense. You can track and see the evolution of your style. It can be fun to review old posts and style phases. Occasionally I do have that, “What was I thinking?!” reaction to an old outfit, but you live and you learn!

I also agree with your statement about shopping: the pieces that end up looking best tend to be the unexpected ones. Not sure why it always happens that way, but for me it’s more often than not!
