You Can Never Have Enough… LBDs

BLACKDRESS_4‘Tis the season to stock up on dresses for holiday parties of all kinds. Two weekends from now, my dear friend Melissa is holding her annual holiday bash (will post the outfit I’m going to wear next week!), work is having a Christmas party… and the world is sending a message: it’s time to up the ante on frocks. Don’t get me wrong, I love anything sparkled and sequined, but this year my holiday dress choices have been on the simpler side, with some edgy touches of course.

One of the reasons I picked up this number (from Esther, a really fun and affordable Australian site I discovered via one of my favorite bloggers, Audrey Leighton of Frassy) was because of the circle skirt flirt-factor and sexy mesh inserts. They’re not quite visible from the front, but it’s a fun little surprise in the profile.

I also love how easily jewelry can elevate the elegance of a dress. I chose dangly earrings and a simple but sophisticated silver necklace that means a lot to me. My mother surprised me with it two years ago for my birthday, so it has true sentimental value and has the power to make any outfit really, really special.

How about you, what stops are you pulling for the holidays? Do you err on the conservative side or add a little edge when it comes to dressing for parties? I would love to hear!

For the first time in years, this year I have nowhere that I have to be (or dress up for) this holiday season and honestly, it’s quite liberating… But that doesn’t mean I won’t be pulling out my holiday frocks! I’ve gone with black at Christmas for the past several years, because it’s the most diverse option for a number of parties – especially when some of them are professional. With no one to please this year, I’m leaning towards all out sparkle and tulle :)
